We’re similar aren’t we?

Suspect we’re onto something. On the right track. Building something cool.

Main challenge: staying on the path. Avoiding the shiny objects. Riding the rollercoaster. Reframing the tough days.

Thought so.

Here’s what’s useful for me right now.

Nerfing my phone

Smart phones are out. Dumb phones are in. But you don’t need a second cell.

Download the Cape app and put all your phone apps except the absolute essential into a folder. Set the folder to be hidden by default.

Essential apps? Uber, maps, wallet, camera, music. Nonessential apps? WhatsApp, Telegram, email, social media. Now your phone is on your side.

Creating by channelling

ChatGPT has nothing on you at your most inspired.

Close your eyes. Imagine your next work of art in your mind (video, article, social post, book).

Breathe big. Meditate on the topic. Don’t try to find answers or think of words. Just quieten your mind. Stay there until you feel like you have to create. Have your tools ready.

Open your eyes and go. If you got this right, you’ll feel in complete flow.

Having absolute certainty

What would life look like if you didn’t doubt yourself? Who would you be?

I think… You’d smile all the time. You wouldn’t overthink. You’d give generously to everyone you met. You’d walk around like you had your sh*t together. Because you do.

You’d go forward with those wild ideas you’re too afraid to share. You’d be audacious. You wouldn’t care who judged you.

This person sounds great. When do I meet them?

Getting serious

My $99/month software company is now a $996/year purchase. And it’s so much better for everyone.

More customers, who research then commit. Long term thinkers. Ready to do the work. Trusting our proven process

No one tentatively grew a business or gingerly broke a world record. Tyre kickers can go elsewhere. My kind of people go all in.

Understanding brain waves

Everyone spends most of the day in beta brain waves. Highly alert, doing tasks. Logical, analytical, busy being busy.

But the magic happens in alpha, gamma and delta brain waves. Here’s the science. Here’s a track to listen to

Get hold of alpha waves however you can, and don’t let them go.

Changing

The gap between your dream existence and your current existence is filled with people, information, and micro-changes.

Who you meet and what you learn matter, sure. But mainly the patterns you consciously interrupt.

When you spot yourself doing something (unhelpful) you’ve always done, say “change” out loud. Tell your brain you’re rewriting a new pattern. Then create it.

Aloha

I’m in the habit of training and working at levels that David Goggins couldn’t handle. Intensity, structure and routine come easy. But switching off is a skill I was yet to master.

Just had several days of Pacific island hopping: no agenda, nowhere to be. Exploring, hanging out and resetting.

Glorious. Now back to it.
